Development
[html] “Development is defined as that which measures and support that allows a specific sport or a sport organisation to improve and or grow.”

Nothing in life is truly static, it either grows or it fades away. This is also true of organisations and in particular sports organisations. Unless there is growth in terms of membership and active participation the organisation will fade to the point where it is no longer able to function and then the sport itself is in danger of fading into history.

Consequently, attention to development in a sports organisation is vital to ensure growth in general awareness of what the sport offers, to attract new and retain existing members and promote growth in participation in the sport. The responsibility for focussing on these aspects falls to the Development Officer.

Whether at a club, provincial or national level, the Development Officer's primary function is to evaluate the current state of the sport, propose actions or programmes to stimulate growth and maximize facilities and opportunities for participation.  At a national level the this would also involve keeping abreast of development programmes within provinces and where necessary propose the expansion of programmes which are showing positive results, to other provinces always with the growth of archery in South Africa is the primary goal.

At all times the Development Officer, at all levels, works with the committee or executive members at that level. At the national level, the Development Officer works with the executive and is guided by the Code of Conduct and SANAA Constitution and Rules.
