SANAA Recurve Coaches Course a Resounding Success The SANAA recurve coaching course was held at the High Performance Centre during the 8th to the 15th of January. The course was run by coach Baek Mun - FITA coach based in Egypt. The first section of the course was for archers. Many lessons were learnt by both our experienced and new archers not only on shooting form but also bow tuning. Coach Mun has shown our archers that there are many subtly different styles, that one can learn new "tricks" (even after 34 years of shooting), that it makes good sense to go back to shooting with a basic bow when working on form and that the bow draw exercises that were shown – although they were like going through “boot camp” at the time are essential to remaining archery fit. The latter part of the course was for coaches with most of the provinces having a coach present. The new coaching policy document was introduced and we now have 7 recurve coaches who have committed to the new policy and their names will be posted on the website shortly. The way forward with the coaching is to agree with the national coaches chairman as to the level that each coach is, they will then write the appropriate test at which stage their coaching level will also be added on the website. In line with SANAA’s 4 year plan, we are working towards increasing our level of coaching to where we are able to include “national coaches” in our international teams. Coaches who have committed to the new programme are: Malcolm Todd, Ria Kaal, Alan Weyers, Lance Ho, Karen Hultzer, Edwin Borresen and Derek Ochse. | Posted by webmaster on Friday 22 January 2010 - 10:46:58 | |
