SANAA Judges get a new look

At the 2008 SANAA Congress, the outgoing National Judges Chairman, David Wallace suggested the implementation of a new uniform. Motivated by the impracticality of the white pants and red shirt, Farbe Designs were commissioned to design and manufacture a new uniform that would achieve a number of goals.

  • Represent the sport
  • Be smart
  • Be practical
  • Be easily identifiable
  • Be easy to maintain
  • Not to conflict with existing club or provincial uniforms

The result is the new SANAA Judges uniform which was released on 1 June 2008. Each judge has been supplied with two uniforms.

The uniform consists of stone coloured pants, white shirt with black sides and a rain jacket.

The shirt is manufactured with a moisture management knit with wicking properties for keeping cool, easy wash and wear. It was specifically designed with no pockets, and has the SANAA logo and the words “JUDGE” where the left hand pocket would normally appear. In addition, the South African flag appears on the right hand sleeve and the long-adopted archery logo and ribbons on the back.

The shirt is easily recognisable with special care to ensure that it did not conflict with any provincial or club apparel. One added bonus is that the fabric of the shirt allows the judge to wash and hang-dry the shirt within an hour, requiring no ironing. It is ideal for long-tournaments.

The shirt differs for the men and women, insofar that the men’s uniform has a men’s cut and the ladies a more shaped ladies style.

The pants are manufactured from AIR- O- TEC fabrics which are produced from a nylon yarn which is dynamically modified during an air injection process in order to reflect the qualities and characteristics of adventure fabrics.

It is world standard active wear designed for comfort requirements, while allowing energetic performance. Needless to say it has more than the normal number of pockets, including oversized pockets to hold notebooks.

An additional feature is a zipped pocket for the necessary judges equipment on top of a normal Velcro closed pocket.

The drawstring pull-on pants is acceptable for both ladies and men, with the women judges having a special flattering, but smart, cut. Like the shirt, it is washable in many forms, quick drying and requires no ironing.

The rain jacket is Micro Active with water repellent coating (800mm water head) and eyelet lining. It includes a rain hood and is designed for wind as well as water repellent. Sweat management material is used throughout.
